The Gold Coast has many fantastic photo opportunities with its wide range of locations, natural settings, great weather, plus a wide variety of activities. Beautiful beaches and rugged coastlines are the ultimate tourist destination offering a relaxed atmosphere and amazing photo opportunities with some of the best sunsets in Australia.
There are so many great sunset locations on the gold coast, and it's hard to know which ones are your favourites. Whether you prefer to go for a photograph quickly by yourself or prefer to plan a whole day of driving around looking for that perfect shot, it's a lot of fun taking sunset photos at Gold Coast.
Finding the best Gold Coast sunset photography locations isn't always easy, with more than 40 beaches and bays on the gold coast. 1. Surfers Paradise Beach
Surfers Paradise Beach is a popular spot for locals and tourists alike. It's the perfect place to watch a sunset at the coast, with plenty of restaurants overlooking the beach and bars to enjoy afterwards. The beach itself is not ideal for swimming due to strong currents, but it's a great spot to watch surf lifesavers rescue people who get into trouble in the water.
2. South Stradbroke Island
South Stradbroke Island (also known as Moreton Island) is a short ferry ride away from Brisbane and has beautiful beaches that face southwest towards Moreton Bay. There are many great spots along the island's east coast where you can watch a sunset over the water, including Point Lookout at Dunwich or Point Vernon at Amity Point, which has sweeping views across Moreton Bay towards Brisbane City and North Stradbroke Island (or "Straddie").
3. Sunset at Currumbin Alley
Currumbin Alley is located along Currumbin Creek in southern Queensland, Australia just south of Brisbane City. The area has a man-made lagoon surrounded by cliffs on three sides which make it an excellent location for taking photos of the gold coast sunset.
4. The Currumbin Rock Pools
Another great place for sunset photography on the Gold Coast is Currumbin Rock Pools. These pools are located just south of Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary and offer plenty of opportunities for taking photos both during daylight hours and after dark when there are fewer tourists around. You'll also find plenty of local wildlife here which you can photograph including koalas, birds, kangaroos and more!
5. Bilinga Beach
Bilinga Beach is one of Gold Coast’s most popular destinations for families and surfers alike. The beach features soft golden sands and a protected lagoon making it perfect for swimming during summer but also for catching some amazing views as you watch the sun go down behind Mt Coolum.
